How’s this for a comparison?
Former USC quarterback Matt Leinart said freshman tailback Ronald Jones II showed “a little flash” of Reggie Bush during Saturday’s 55-6 victory over Arkansas State.
“He was explosive and he was making guys miss in the open field,” Leinart said Tuesday during a Pac-12 Network broadcast.
Jones, 6-foot and 185 pounds, rushed 44 yards for a touchdown in his final carry of the game.
He finished with 86 yards and a touchdown in six carries.
“You see him here up the sideline and that reminded me of the old days when I would go and hand off to No. 5 and I wouldn’t even carry out my play fake,” Leinart said.
As a freshman in 2003, Bush played in 13 games and rushed for 521 yards and three touchdowns in 90 carries as a backup. He also caught 15 passes for 314 yards and four touchdowns.
A product of McKinney North High in Texas, Jones was a top-rated tailback in the 2015 recruiting class.
