USC recruiting update: How the Trojans’ record could affect recruiting
- Share via
Every Tuesday we will feature a USC recruiting update.
USC has lost twice in the final seconds, dropping the Trojans’ record to 5-3.
Could three or more losses leave the Trojans stunned on National Signing Day?
Two recruiting experts said USC’s record probably would not affect local recruits, but could make national recruits think twice about signing with the Trojans.
“Wins help from a national perspective,” said Greg Biggins, Scout.com’s national recruiting analyst, “but kids from Southern California are programmed to go there.”
Thirteen of 17 recruits committed to USC are from California.
“West Coast kids decide early to stay home or venture out,” said Mike Farrell, national recruiting director for Rivals.com.
Farrell said other programs would use USC’s record to persuade national recruits to not sign with the Trojans.
Michigan commit will visit USC
Chris Clark, a tight end from Connecticut who has committed to Michigan, scheduled an official visit to USC.
“Looks like I’ll be at USC for the Notre Dame game pretty excited to check out the coliseum and USC,” Clark wrote on Twitter.
Clark, from Avon Old Farms High, is regarded as one of the top tight ends in the 2015 class.
Alemany’s Dominic Davis commits
Mission Hills Alemany running back Dominic Davis committed to USC on Sunday.
Davis was previously committed to Washington State, but said he switched his commitment because of USC’s educational opportunities and its proximity to home.
Alemany receiver Desean Holmes also has committed to USC.
Trojans receiver Steven Mitchell played at Alemany.
