Mammoth Mountain plans to be open Memorial Day weekend and is featuring a $180 three-day pass and 20% off lodgings for the holiday weekend.

Spring skiing rates at the Mammoth Lakes, Calif., ski resort started this week, with savings and slope time for those who don’t want to give in to summer just yet.

The deal: The ski resort Thursday reported a base depth of 20 inches at the main lodge (8,900 feet) and 50 inches at the summit (11,053 feet). Though temperatures were in the low 50s on Thursday, the resort was expecting more than a foot of snow by Saturday morning.

Rooms at the Mammoth Mountain Inn, Juniper Springs Resort and the Village Lodge show discount rates with a three-night minimum stay over the holiday. The Spring Three-Day Ticket saves more than $100 off the regular season rates that ended April 20, but you must buy the ticket at least a day in advance.

When: Memorial Day lodging discounts are good for arrivals between May 22 and 24. Spring skiing ticket is good through the end of the season.

Tested: I checked online and found the cheapest room for three nights at $357 (or $119 a night) plus tax at the Mammoth Mountain Inn. The room accommodates only two people. I also found a one-bedroom condo at Juniper Springs Resort for three nights for $405 (or $135 a night) plus tax. Availability online was good for spring skiing tickets too.
