United Airlines accidentally drops $130 fuel surcharge
UAL Corp.’s United Airlines said it accidentally dropped fuel surcharges of as much $130 round trip on all of its domestic routes around midday today.
“It was a clerical error that resulted in us eliminating the domestic fuel surcharge on all domestic flights,” spokeswoman Robin Urbanski said.
United won’t be able to fix the glitch until the next fare distribution occurs around 8 p.m. New York time tonight, she said. That gives consumers a few hours to buy tickets at cheaper rates, Graeme Wallace of ticket research Web site FareCompare.com said. The firm spotted the mistake this afternoon.
