Borrow some Fred Segal bling at this Santa Monica hotel
A Fred Segal “lending library”?
I’m not talking about borrowing books, but rather necklaces, aviator sunglasses, belts, leather purses and even dog toys from an accessory collection courtesy of the upscale SoCal fashion store. The “library” items will come with a suite starting Sept. 6 at Loews Santa Monica Beach Hotel in Santa Monica.
It’s a chance to try on a more fashionable you and maybe pack a little lighter too. More than 50 accessories from Fred Segal -- for women, men, kids, pets -- will be on loan to guests who reserve a suite. The offer includes other extras too: a $50 beverage and dining credit per day, free access to the spa-fitness center, free parking and free Internet.
The suite life doesn’t come cheap. I checked online for a stay Oct. 7 to 9 and found suites from $700 to $3,600 a night, plus tax. Still, maybe those who feel like styling will splurge.
And just like any other lending library: If you don’t return an item, you pay for it.
