For those who want summer vacation to start soon, Terry Flynn Tours has a self-guided driving tour of Ireland starting at $430 a person for travel now through the end of June. The package includes six nights at bed-and-breakfast inns, a rental car and a customized itinerary of wherever you want to go -- but you must book by Tuesday.

The deal: The Magical Ireland package comes with nice extras at a nice low price. With this package, you can pretty much keep land costs below $100 a day, excluding auto insurance, gas (or petrol, as they say) and meals. The deal is based on double occupancy and doesn’t include airfare.

The package also includes a Heritage Island coupon booklet with discounts for castles and other attractions and a “hop-on, hop-off” city tour of Dublin.

When: The offer is good for travel through June 30 but must be booked by Tuesday.

Tested: I like this deal because you can choose destinations and have the company help you connect the dots. To test it, I called the toll-free number (it can’t be booked online) and spoke with Linda Anderson, the U.S. rep for Terry Flynn Tours. She explained the options and confirmed availability for any six days through June for this package. The base rate is $430 plus tax a person.

There are two ways to reserve rooms: You can have the company book the B&Bs for you, in which case you are locked into an itinerary and must stay at those locations; or you can be more flexible and use vouchers to make same-day reservations as you go. All B&Bs come with private bathrooms and a full breakfast.

Also, the rental car comes with manual transmission. The company offers CDW (collision damage waiver) insurance that’s pretty much required for rental cars in Ireland for $12 a day; if you decline and decide to get it later, coverage can cost about 18 euros or $25 a day.
