Marriott resorts give companion air tickets with stays

This deal from Marriott makes it easy to get a jump-start on a vacation. Stay at a JW Marriott, Renaissance or Marriott Resort through January and receive a companion airline ticket to anywhere in the continental U.S. plus a $100 resort credit.
The deal: The Stay Here, Fly There package is available in California (including Sonoma, San Diego and Palm Springs), Hawaii, Arizona, Colorado, Texas and Florida. It requires a two-night stay, and the $100 credit may be used for golf, spa services or food. Use the promotion code “P91” when making a reservation.
The free companion ticket requires purchase of a primary ticket and is good for travel for a year starting March 12. Note that passengers must travel together on the same itinerary with the free ticket; vouchers are issued via Companion Airline Certificates.
When: The offer is good until Dec. 31 for stays through Jan. 31.
Tested: I decided to test this deal at the Renaissance Esmeralda Resort & Spa in Indian Wells, Calif., which has three pools, a spa, a fitness center, golf options and nearby hiking and rock-climbing as well. I found availability for a room Dec. 2-4 for $159 a night, plus tax -- add $25-a-night resort fee and $12 for self-parking. So pamper yourself with a spa treatment on the resort (using the credit) while planning that next trip.
