The Grand Canyon Railway provides a different way to visit Grand Canyon National Park. Trains run from historic Williams, Ariz., to the South Rim for a visit. The railway is offering fall packages starting at $390 per couple, which includes train tickets, two nights at a hotel and even a Wild West shoot-out at the depot.

The deal: The Railway Express Plus package starts and ends in Williams, about 35 miles west of Flagstaff. The deal includes round-trip train travel between Williams and the Grand Canyon plus two nights at the Grand Canyon Railway Hotel in Williams. The basic package costs $390 plus tax; add children for $32 each.

When: The offer is good through Nov. 11.

Tested: I found the $390 package available for two nights starting Oct. 1. The deal includes a standard room with two queen-sized beds and coach tickets for the train ride. Without the package, prices climbed for this weekend trip: $140 for two round-trip train tickets and $338 for a two-night stay at the hotel. (Prices don’t include tax.) Rates for this package vary by date, so check online for the best time to go to get the best prices.
