Santa Fe: Spring sale on villas at serene Bishop’s Lodge resort

Here’s a great spring deal that would work for Memorial Day too: Kick back in a two-bedroom villa at Bishop’s Lodge Ranch Resort & Spa in Santa Fe. The resort in the foothills of the Sangre de Cristo Mountains offers spring sale prices on villas starting at $339 a night -- more than half off the usual rates. Split the room with three friends and stay in style without breaking the bank.

The deal: There’s a lot to do -- mountain biking, yoga, hiking, tours -- at this series of lodges and villas that date to the early 20th century. There are cheaper rooms to stay in at this resort, but the sale on villas is the best deal for the money. It’s good too for those seeking roomier digs with some privacy.

The villas are located in the hills above the lodge and have fireplaces, two private swimming pools and views of the surrounding valley. And here are some extras that come with the sale too: a bottle of the lodge’s signature wine and chocolate-covered strawberries when you arrive and a $100 daily resort credit good for horseback riding, skeet and trap shooting, dining and more.

When: The offer is good through May 31.

Tested: I checked online and found a two-bedroom villa available May 11 to 13 and again on Memorial Day weekend from May 25 to 28 at the starting price of $339 a night plus tax and fees. No minimum stay is required for this deal; resort fees add an extra $14.50 per adult each day.

So if four people share a villa, each person would pay $85 a night, plus the $14.50 daily fee and tax. Nice price for such a grand stay -- and don’t forget to split the resort credit too.
