For those who like to travel solo and on foot, this summer hiking trip to Glacier National Park in Montana covers a lot of terrain.

Participants on the guided tour from Vermont-based Country Walkers take moderate to challenging hikes during the six-day trip. Destinations include the Highline Trail below the Continental Divide, Iceberg Lake, Grinnell Glacier and the summit of Scenic Point.

Nights are spent in historic lodges such as Lake McDonald Lodge, a chalet-style structure built in 1913 that overlooks the park’s largest lake, and Glacier Park Lodge, built the same year and known for it’s lobby with massive Douglas-fir columns. The trip begins and ends in Whitefish, Mont.

Tested: I checked with the company and found that spaces are still available on the Glacier park tour.
