Fourth of July: 40% off four nights at Monterey Plaza Hotel & Spa

The city of Monterey celebrates the Fourth of July with rock and R&B bands and of course fireworks at night. The Monterey Plaza Hotel & Spa at 400 Cannery Row offers this special during the holiday week: a 40% discount off a four-night stay.

The deal: If you are out to make the midweek holiday a real vacation, the waterfront hotel offers chill time at its roof-top spa, free valet parking and Wi-Fi, and a great central location to explore the city and its beaches. The July 4th 40% Off requires a four-night minimum stay.

When: The offer is good for stays Sunday through July 7.

Tested: I found the hotel booked up Sunday through Tuesday, but did find a room for Wednesday through July 7 to take advantage of the discount. The cheapest room I found was $179 a night plus tax and resort fee. Total cost with tax and fees for four nights: $890, compared with $1,416 for the same room on the same nights at the regular rates.
