Tour gets personal

Alabama-based International Expeditions has begun offering 10-day people-to-people tours of Cuba that start in June. The itinerary includes discussions with botanists at the Soledad Botanical Garden, a visit to the Zapata Wetlands in search of bee hummingbirds and talks with farmers during a trip to a tobacco farm. Havana, the Bay of Pigs, Cienfuegos and other hot spots are part of the itinerary too.

Travelers must have proof of legal travel from International Expeditions before they are allowed to board a charter flight from Miami to Cuba (charters are approved a few weeks before departure). Travelers must follow the planned itinerary; no free travel is allowed.

When: Trips depart June 7, 14 and 21. (Other dates for fall and 2013 are being added.)

Price: $3,898 a person, double occupancy. It includes lodging, most meals and on-island transportation and activities. Airfare to and from Miami and charter airfare from Miami to Cuba are not included.

CANADA

‘Saw’ hits the seas

A horror-film franchise sets sail in the “Saw at Sea” summer cruise from New York City to Canada.

The trip features actors who have appeared in the films, including Costas Mandylor (Hoffman), Anne Greene (Dina) and Ned Bellamy (Jeff). Dan Yeager, who plays Leatherface in “Texas Chainsaw Massacre 3D,” also joins the “Saw” crew aboard ship. Even Jigsaw’s creepy puppet Billy will be on board for photo ops.

Fans who sign up for the cruise can join pool parties and dances with “Saw” celebs, take photographs and get autographs. Those in balcony cabins and suites get extras such as private meals and VIP cocktail parties with actors.

The Carnival Glory five-night cruise will sail from New York City, with stops at St. John, New Brunswick, and Halifax, Nova Scotia, before returning to New York.

When: Aug. 11-16.

Price: From $779 a person for an inside cabin (less expensive cabins are sold out), double occupancy. It includes the cruise, meals and activities with “Saw” actors. Airfare is not included.

Angling for a rest

The Teton Mountain Lodge & Spa in Jackson, Wyo., is offering a three-night package of fishing with a little luxury too. A visit to Grand Teton National Park (from the southern entrance) or a ride on the aerial tram up to Rendezvous Peak are among the activities.

The deal: The Angler’s Dream Package is $1,594 for two. It includes three nights lodging, two days of guided fly fishing on the Snake River and a $30 daily breakfast credit at the lodge’s restaurant.

Take in Jewish heritage

AmaWaterways’ cruise and land tour highlights Jewish heritage in five countries along the Danube River. Synagogues in Budapest and Prague, Oskar Schindler’s home in Germany, the setting for “The Sound of Music” in Austria and the site of the Nuremberg war-crimes trials are some of the highlights of the 13-night trip.

It begins with two days touring Budapest before embarking on the small-ship river cruise for seven days. Participants will meet Rabbi Chatam Sofer and tour Bratislava in Slovakia, visit the Jewish Museum and Sigmund Freud’s House in Vienna, and stop in Regensburg at Schindler’s house and Nuremberg in Germany before ending with three nights in Prague.
