London tour for theater lovers (with a little Olympics thrown in)
Where do theater and sports collide? Ron Scarlata, theater professor at El Camino College in Torrance, will lead an eight-day cultural tour of London during the winter holiday that accents live performances and back-stage tours as well as some of the city’s hot venues for the 2012 Olympics.
Scarlata, who has been organizing itineraries for theater lovers for four decades, designed a trip that includes orchestra tickets for three top shows – including one musical and one drama -- as well as tours of the Royal National Theatre and the city’s Theatre Royal.
Other highlights include walking tours of London, the city’s Olympic sites and a daylong excursion to Shakespeare’s hometown Stratford-on-Avon.
When: The trip runs Dec. 28-Jan. 4
Price: $2,795 per person, double occupancy; solo travelers add $695. It includes round-trip L.A.-London airfare, lodgings, three London shows, tours, Stratford-on-Avon excursion, airport transfers and daily breakfast.
