Daily Deal: Kids get to be the VIPs in this San Francisco hotel deal

Share

Parents always want their children to be more responsible, and this package at the Galleria Park Hotel in San Francisco might be a first step. When kids 12 and younger check the family in, they receive a travel backpack, $10 iTunes card, breakfast and a chocolate.

The deal: The Kids ‘R VIP offer is a twist on the “kids stay free” or “kids eat free” deals. Room prices start at $244 a night plus tax (the website says $189, but that price has sold out). The breakfast for two children applies to nearby Bread and Cocoa. (Adults pay their own way.)

The Joie de Vivre boutique hotel at 191 Sutter St. is close to Union Square and Chinatown in San Francisco as well as public transit options. It’s a good stepping-off point for a car-free weekend; daily parking at the hotel costs $42 for cars and $52 for SUVs and larger vehicles).

When: The offer is good for stays through Sept. 2, based on availability.

Tested: I found the package available for a room that accommodates four people for $244 a night plus tax from Aug. 31 to Sept. 2 (over Labor Day weekend). The best available rate for the same room on the same night costs about $14 less, but that’s without the extras (backpack, breakfast, etc.).
