Here’s an inexpensive spring-break idea: Go kayaking, hiking, zip-lining or just kick back on Catalina Island. Discount rooms start at $121 a night for a two-night hotel deal that puts you right in downtown Avalon and within walking distance of the beach.

The deal: LivingSocial offers this arrangement for a standard room at the Aurora Hotel & Spa at 137 Marilla Ave. The rate requires a two-night stay and comes with a bottle of wine. Buyers may extend their stay by combining vouchers for this deal. Note too that these aren’t open vouchers; you reserve dates when you purchase the deal.

When: The offer expires Feb. 5 and is good for stays Sunday through May 30, based on availability.

Tested: I found a room available March 17 to 19 for $121 a night; the same room on the same night usually costs $189 a night. The price doesn’t include ferry tickets to and from Catalina, which cost $72 round-trip per adult on Catalina Express.
