Las Vegas: Fans, bands and industry veterans come together to boost music scene

Entertainment industry veterans, young musicians and fans of emerging bands will gather Aug. 1-3 at the Vegas Music Summit.

Various venues in downtown Las Vegas will host a mix of concerts and workshops, all with an emphasis on nurturing and promoting the city’s live music scene.

The summit kicks off the evening Aug. 1, when various bands will take to the stages of three clubs: Backstage Bar & Billiards, Beauty Bar and Commonwealth.

The afternoons of Aug. 2 and 3 will be chock-full of panel discussions. The range of topics includes “Capitalizing on YouTube,” “Effective Social Media to Fill the Room” and “Indie Labels – Past, Present and Future.”

More bands will perform in music showcases Aug. 2 and 3.

Registration costs $99 and includes admission to all concerts and workshops. Tickets to individual music showcases cost $10 and $15 and can be purchased through TicketFly.

The summit’s one free event is an Aug. 2 evening concert by the band Home Cookin’. The show starts at midnight at Backstage Bar & Billiards.
