Las Vegas: Get ready to take the plunge as pool season nears

Share

Pool season is just around the corner in Las Vegas. Most resorts along the Strip will open their pools during mid- to late March as the thermometer pushes upward through the 70s on its steady climb into triple digits.

In recent years, Sin City’s adults-only pools - including several where European-style, topless sunbathing is allowed - have witnessed growing crowds.

The appropriately named Bare Pool Lounge at the Mirage opens March 14. It features poolside drinks and dining as well as private cabanas. It will be open Thursday-Sunday through April 14, and Thursday-Monday for the two weeks after that. From April 30 onward, the pool will open seven days a week.

Admission is cheaper - $10 every day – for women. Guys pay $20 Sunday-Thursday and $40 on Fridays and Saturdays.

Another popular destination for the over-21 crowd – Wet Republic at MGM Grand – launches its poolside parties (not topless) on March 22.

The 53,000-square-foot venue has undergone a major remodel. An impressive LED display rises above an enlarged DJ booth. When the desert heat gets oppressive, guests can retreat to a covered, open-air lounge in which the green marble bar has been expanded from 60 to 95 feet long.

Admission varies, but on the last two Saturdays in March, it’s $25 for women and $40 for men.
