Fright Dome scares the pants off fans for its 13th Las Vegas season

Spooky times are headed to Las Vegas when Fright Dome at Circus Circus celebrates its 13th anniversary starting on Friday, Oct. 2. The five acres of the Adventuredome theme park feature six haunted houses, all ready to scare the bejesus out of horror fans.

SimEx-Iwerks Entertainment and Warner Bros. Consumer Products teamed up on the first haunted attraction in the world to feature a 4-D show with “Friday the 13th 4-D: A Deadly 4-D Experience,” a new way for horror fans to experience Jason Voorhees. In this haunted house, Jason slashes his way through 13 kills in 13 minutes with his machete.

Also new this season is the “Insanitarium,” where guests must check in at a nurse’s station and sign voluntary commitment papers before entering. Fans roaming the maze find freezing temperatures of body lockers as well as the heat of a crematorium that wraps together scary sights, sounds and smells. Creator Jason Egan promises guests will encounter the “rotting corpses of those who came before yet failed to survive.”

Another journey brings guests through a morgue where everyone is locked inside. Egan’s crew members, who find creepy yet historic oddities, disassembled and transported morgue doors, wheelchairs, lighting fixtures, sinks and more from one of the most historically paranormal locations in the nation, the Norwich State Hospital in Connecticut, and set up a haunted house with the materials. Before closing in 1996, Norwich was an insane asylum and hospital for the incurable spanning almost 100 years.

Another area, the “FreakShow,” features scare areas, stages hosting sideshow acts, performers and more demented entertainment paired with carnival games with “unsettling” prizes. Guests can also experience seven thrill rides, including two roller coasters, all in the dark.

Fright Dome is open from 7 p.m. to midnight Oct. 2-31. Tickets starts at $35.95 with fast pass tickets available for an additional $20, allowing express line entry for all six haunted houses.
