Bling pacifiers are a baby faux pas
About 1,000 baby pacifiers ornamented with Swarovski crystals have been recalled because the crystals can detach from a pacifier’s guard and handle and be inhaled or swallowed by young children. No injuries have been reported. The following retailers sold the pacifiers on EBay.com and Etsy.com: Dara Linda’s Baby Bling, Bling Toes, Baby Bling Things, PeaNaPod Bling and Accessories and MJM Crystal Designs.
* About 31,000 matelasse crib bumpers, manufactured in Portugal for Pottery Barn Kids, have been recalled because the decorative stitching can detach from the bumper, putting young children at risk of getting entangled. The company has received two reports of stitching coming loose but no reports of injuries.
* About 414,000 television stands, made by Sauder Woodworking Co., are being recalled because they can collapse if the fasteners connecting the legs are not completely tightened. The company has received 43 reports of the stands collapsing, causing injuries that included a broken arm, a torn rotator cuff and a concussion. The stands were sold at Wal-Mart’s stores and on its website from January 2005 to May 2007.
* About 900,000 Toro Power Sweep electric blowers, manufactured by Toro Co., have been recalled because a rotating component can break and cause pieces of plastic to fly out of the blower. The company has received 154 reports of this component breaking, including 21 reports of minor cuts and bruises.
* Two companies that sell a tamarind-flavored candy are recalling all shipments of de la Rosa Pulparindo they imported from a Mexican supplier after they discovered that the candy contained dangerous levels of lead. The lead levels found in Pulparindo could cause health problems to consumers, particularly infants, small children and pregnant women.
