Sarah Hyland of ABC’s “Modern Family” is joining the ensemble cast of the musical “Hair” at the Hollywood Bowl, organizers announced on Thursday. The production, which runs for just three performances Aug. 1 to 3, will also feature actor Benjamin Walker.
Hyland will play Chrissy in “Hair,” which will be directed and choreographed by Adam Shankman. As previously announced, “Veronica Mars” actress Kristen Bell will play Sheila in the musical, with Hunter Parrish playing Claude.
Walker, who starred on Broadway in “Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson” and last year’s revival of “Cat on a Hot Tin Roof,” will play Berger.
The ensemble cast will also include pop singer Mario, Jonah Platt and Kevin Chamberlin.
“Hair” debuted at New York’s Public Theater in 1967. It opened on Broadway the following year, running through 1972. The Public mounted a well-received revival of the musical in Central Park in 2008 and later took it to Broadway.
