Whether the country music stars who’ll be front and center at the CMA Awards show from Nashville are coming up with the songs that make the whole world sing could be debated, but they’re certainly some of the most trusted celebrities around.

That’s the finding of Repucom’s latest Celebrity Davie Brown Index, or Celebrity DBI, a seven-year old measure of consumer perceptions of celebs.

As it turns out, the most effective celebrity musician endorser in the country at the moment is Blake Shelton, who is in the running Wednesday night for entertainer of the year, the CMA’s top award. He is vying in the awards category with Jason Aldean, Luke Bryan, George Strait and Taylor Swift.

Country musicians dominate the top ranks of musician endorsers, according to the Celebrity DBI, with CMA Awards show co-host Carrie Underwood ranked No. 2, Reba McEntire at No. 5 and Faith Hill at No. 6. In between were Adele at No. 3 and Yolanda Adams at No. 4.

Speaking of Swift, who will receive the CMA’s Pinnacle Award for the influence of her music around the world, she ranks higher than Beyonce on the celebrity endorsement scale, coming in at No. 18, compared with No. 66 for Mrs. Carter. Still, Beyonce is No. 3 on the list of most influential musicians in the U.S., ahead of Swift, who falls in at No. 11. And at No. 1? Adele, followed by Shelton (No. 2), Beyonce and Underwood (No. 4).

Among the other fun facts in the Celebrity DBI’s quantification of stardom, culled from a weekly online survey of 1,000 Americans ages 13 to 75, Swift has a public awareness ranking of 92%, second among country stars to Dolly Parton, who is known by 95% of survey respondents.

Of musician trend-setters, Swift ranked higher than Katy Perry, Justin Timberlake and Lady Gaga, although slightly below Underwood. Swift is the 11th most influential musician, but she is not considered very appealing. “People rate her as likable as Christina Aguilera and Rihanna,” both of whom are near the bottom of the likability list.

Brad Paisley, Underwood’s co-host for the telecast, scored a 66% awareness rating among the survey subjects and is considered “more of trendsetter than Tim McGraw, Shania Twain and Keith Urban … as appealing as Dolly Parton and George Strait and more appealing than Beyonce and Tim McGraw.”

The CMA Awards will be shown live to most of the country beginning at 5 p.m. Pacific Standard Time, but will be delayed for West Coast audiences until prime time, from 8 to 11 p.m., on ABC-TV.
