Kesha gets wild and personal in ‘My Crazy Beautiful Life’ series

Kesha is throwing glitter to the wind in her new MTV series “My Crazy Beautiful Life.”

The hard-partying pop princess will debut her unscripted, six-part documentary series (er, reality show) Tuesday night. The series, which is kind of about music, premieres on the channel at 11 p.m. PST.

Kesha, 26, whose real name is Kesha Rose Sebert, has made a reputation for herself with her dance tracks “Tik Tok,” “Your Love Is My Drug” and “Die Young.” She recently told Pop & Hiss her third record “Warrior” was an attempt to expand the wild persona she created with “Animal.”

“I’m trying to show the world who I am as a human being,” the boisterous singer explained. “I think I’ve realized that you don’t just have to be one thing — you can be sexy and cool and funny and down-to-earth.”

And the gritty but brightly colored star is doing much more of that in “My Crazy Beautiful Life.”

“I just wanted to document my life, because it’s so insane; I wanted somebody to catch it on film, so I can watch it when I’m old and saggy and be like, ‘My life was so crazy!’” she told MTV News. “What you get in the show is real; it’s not scripted or ... thought out at all. It’s just my life. It’s very real and honest.”

The series was shot by her brother Lagan Sebert, a journalist and documentarian, who apparently quit his job “totally just on a prayer” to film her life for the last 2½ years.

“It’s very guerilla, do-it-yourself, kinda-ghetto style. A lot of it has to be subtitled,” the singer said.

The archival footage kicks off in 2011, when the singer headlined her first tour, according to the New York Times, which called the footage “directionless” but “well-shot.”

“Because it was my brother filming, there was no wall, no barrier, it was real and raw; just everything from breakdowns to triumphs and make-outs and mornings after, just everything,” she added. “There was no acting, no faking, there was no story, there was just my brother filming my life.”

The documentary shows Kesha kissing strangers, stalking her ex-boyfriend Harold and dissing bloggers who “hate,” such as Perez Hilton, whom she skewers and didn’t want at one of her L.A. shows because of the “tons of mean things” he wrote about her on his blog, according to OK! magazine.

“A lot of times I have no makeup on and it’s not glamorous at all but you still see me running around the world just trying to get my message across: Don’t listen to the haters. Love yourself, love your life, we are who we are. And you see me struggle with that in my own life,” she told USA Today. “ I’ve had so many young people come up to me at my shows and say they felt terrible and hopeless after being bullied online or bullied at school, and that my music really helped them feel like they can be themselves.”

And what does she want the takeaway to be?

“To see who I am on stage and how seriously I take it and how hard I work and also how much fun I try to have with my life,” she said. “Hopefully by seeing that in me, young people will have the confidence, even if they feel imperfect as I always do, to just celebrate themselves and celebrate their lives.”
