That’s our kind of weekend

Share

Reading about beautiful B-list celebrities living in their over-gentrified neighborhoods and dining at these ultimate sushi bars, organic diners and velvet-roped dive bars definitely makes me smile every Thursday [Weekend Feedback, March 22]. Do any of them ever wake up to a rich pot of Folgers with a couple of slices of slightly burnt toast for breakfast? How about leftovers from a “B”-rated Chinese restaurant for lunch or realizing that you have forgotten your Costco membership card as you pull into the parking lot? Do any of them ever have a night out on the town at the Olive Garden? I hear the bottomless salad is to die for!

Sacrificing a Saturday at the spa for a Saturday of yard work would be refreshing for a change. Screaming and misbehaving children at these organic bistros and ultra-secret eateries that serve the “best ... in town” or a misbehaving dog in heat on one of those late afternoon sunset walks in Elysian Park never seem to be an issue.

Can someone please mention the weekend traffic on Fairfax Avenue and Los Feliz and Sunset boulevards as they drive to one of those ultimate eateries, private kick-boxing gyms or drop off their two chocolate lab retrievers at the doggie yoga establishment? I guess my answer is this ... then it would not be called “My Favorite Weekend” but, rather, “A Realistic Weekend” for the rest of us.
