Listen: Ariana Grande dials it down with Big Sean in ‘Best Mistake’

Ariana Grande hasn’t sworn off the soft stuff.

After previewing her upcoming album with “Problem,” “Break Free” and “Bang Bang” -- each far feistier than anything on her gentle 2013 debut -- the young pop-soul singer unveiled a new track early Tuesday that shows she can still dial it down when the mood strikes.

“Best Mistake” is a delicate piano ballad about a troubled relationship with a subdued guest verse by the rapper Big Sean, who previously appeared on Grande’s song “Right There.”

Due out Aug. 25, “My Everything” follows last year’s “Yours Truly,” which spawned the top 10 hit “The Way.”

In addition to Iggy Azalea (who appears in “Problem”) and Zedd (who produced “Break Free”), the album is to feature contributions from the Weeknd, ASAP Ferg and Childish Gambino.
