ABC Family renews three shows, orders more ‘Bunheads’

ABC Family announced the renewal of three shows Friday: a third season for “Melissa & Joey,” a second season of “Switched at Birth” and a second season for “Baby Daddy.” Additionally, the channel has ordered more episodes of its ballet school comedy-drama “Bunheads.”

“Melissa & Joey” stars Melissa Joan Hart as a successful politician and Joey Lawrence as her family’s “manny.” “Baby Daddy” stars Jean-Luc Bilodeau, Derek Theler and Tahj Mowry in a “Three Men and a Baby”-style situation. Together, the comedy series have been a hit on Wednesday nights.

“Switched at Birth” had the highest-rated series debut for ABC Family in June 2011. It stars Vanessa Marano and Katie Leclerk as young women who discover they were ... the title explains the rest.

“Bunheads,” from”Gilmore Girls”creator Amy Sherman-Palladino, was a critical favorite this summer.

The dramas will return this winter, with the comedies returning this spring.
