Call it, if you will, the virtual literary event of the year. Or of February at least. Toni Morrison, the grande dame of American letters, is holding what’s billed as a “first-of-its-kind digital book signing” Wednesday at noon PST (3 p.m. EST).

Google and Morrison’s paperback publisher, Random House division Vintage Books, are teaming up for the event, which will be held at Google’s New York office and will stream live on various websites.

“Using a Wacom tablet, Morrison will sign digital versions of her newest national bestseller, ‘Home,’” says a Random House news release.

David Ulin’s review of “Home” last year dubbed it “a thin book with some beautiful writing.”

Morrison also will be signing the Vintage Books paperback edition of “Home” for Google employees. “The live Hangout celebrates the paperback release of ‘Home,’ as well as the culmination of Black History Month events sponsored by the Black Googler Network.”

Any lover of the Nobel laureate’s oeuvre can tune in to the event on the Google Play or Toni Morrison Google+ pages or the Google Play YouTube channel.

Last October, Google hosted British singer Ellie Goulding to a similar event, which it dubbed a “virtual album signing.”
