Farmers market chile face-off; #Indo Vietnamese pop-up; Rosh Hashana ice cream

#Indo in Venice: Phuong Tran, former chef of Benley’s in Long Beach, is launching a Vietnamese “dining installation” called #Indo at Local 1205 in Venice with marketer/producer Michael Della Femina (Bloody Bill’s) and Tenaya Cardoso of Saigon Trading House. It starts Thursday from 7 p.m. to 2:30 a.m. and continues Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights through the fall. On Tran’s menu: a $7 bao burger and $9 matzo ball pho. 1205 Abbot Kinney Blvd., Venice.
Chile face-off: Alex Weiser and his one-man traveling chile roaster will make an appearance at Sunday’s Santa Monica farmers market, in a chile face-off with gordita maker Esther “Lita” Villalobos. Villalobos will be making gorditas topped with roasted chiles, refried beans, homemade chorizo, spicy braised beef, slow-poached egg, braised kale and salsas. 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Main Street and Ocean Park Avenue.
Rosh Hashana ice cream: L.A. Creamery Artisan Ice Cream is releasing 50 cases of its limited-edition Rosh Hashana flavor on Saturday at eight Bristol Farms markets. It’s cinnamon ice cream spun with organic date swirl, caramelized apples and walnut strudel. Available at the Beverly Hills/West Hollywood, Santa Monica, Hollywood, South Pasadena, Westchester, Westwood, Manhattan Beach and Newport Beach stores for $6.99 a pint. www.lacreamery.com.
