Keep track of your cocktails with drink charms and markers

Share

In a season of giving, there’s one thing no one wants to share.

Namely, his or her drink at the holiday soiree.

Luckily, helping a houseful of your nearest and dearest keep track of their beer, wine and cocktails is a good problem to have and an easy one to solve.

Individualized drink charms and markers designed to identify whose glass is whose are available in a variety of styles, shapes and colors and offer a chance to add a little personal flair during the holiday season and all year round.

Drink charms and clings

Available at online craft resources like Etsy.com, TenThousandVillages.com and most retailers (online and off) who sell home goods and glassware, drink marker and charm options are as varied as the signature cocktails they adorn.

Elegant events may call for jewel-toned charms on delicate rings that slip around the stem of a glass, while personalized cling-style stickers work best on beer pints, and little plastic men dangling from drink rims promise to be a conversation starter.

Washable wine markers

In addition to charm choices, washable wine markers that write on glass are another way to call dibs on a drink. Hosts can decorate the drinkware before the party or allow guests to doodle their own designs. Either way, when the party’s over it all comes off in the wash.

Bonus idea: Borrowing Crayola Window Crayons from the kid’s room is another way to write on and easily wipe off glassware.

Get creative

Using craft supplies to put personality on display and share holiday spirit, not germs, is a frugal and fun way to dress up the drinks.

Cut 2- to 3-inch strips of decorative washi tape to wrap around glass stems and create DIY tags. Write a name on a strip, then wrap it around the stem, matching up the sticky sides. Instead of names, different colors or patterns of tape for each glass can also make a distinction.

Along the same lines, snippets of ribbon, yarn, lace, fabric strips or even different-colored chenille stems (a.k.a. pipe cleaners) offer a creative way to tie one on. Pun intended.

Customize it

Customized glass decals can be personalized. We especially like the ones from Slaybels on Etsy. Individual names are a bestseller on the site, but numbers, words or sayings would also be fun. Prices are per decal and vary according to the design. The clings are meant to be peeled off after the party and reused at the next event. Cheers to that.
