Reader Photo: Wait for it

Sometimes you come across a scene with potential, but it’s not quite there yet. For some scenes, you have to watch and wait a bit for the perfect moment -- a turn of the head, a step to the right, a simple gesture -- to hit the shutter.

Sally Ann Field did just that, watching the kitchen staff through a window at Rivera at 11th and Flower, waiting for all the pieces of her image to come together.

“The shadows totally caught my eye and I waited until the perfect combination of subjects entered the frame to complete the story,” she said.

Field made the image with a Canon 5D Mk III and a 40mm f/2.8 lens.
