More sex assault charges for Jon

Celebrity fashion designer Anand Jon, who is accused of sexually assaulting a dozen women and girls, was charged by Los Angeles County prosecutors Tuesday with attacks on six other women, and authorities in Dallas have a warrant for his arrest on similar charges.

Including the 13 new counts, Jon, 33, now faces 46 criminal charges. Among the 40 felony and six misdemeanor charges are accusations of rape, lewd acts on a child and false imprisonment.

“He is a prolific serial sexual predator,” said Jane Robison, a spokeswoman for the Los Angeles County district attorney’s office.

The Beverly Hills designer, whose full name is Anand Jon Alexander, is accused of assaulting or molesting girls and women ages 14 to 27, many of whom were seeking work as models.

The alleged incidents occurred from August 2000 to March 5, Robison said. Many of the alleged assaults occurred in Jon’s Beverly Hills condominium.

Jon was arrested March 6 after one of the alleged victims contacted Beverly Hills police.

Jon, who had been free on $1.3-million bail, was taken into custody at the Beverly Hills courthouse Tuesday on a warrant from Dallas alleging that he also sexually assaulted two of his alleged L.A. victims in Texas, along with a third woman.

He was ordered held on $500,000 bail in that case.

In an effort to persuade a judge to increase Jon’s Los Angeles bail to $2.3 million with the extra charges, prosecutors said Jon was also the subject of sex crimes investigations in New York and Massachusetts.

If convicted on all counts, Jon could face life in prison.

Danny Davis, Jon’s new attorney, told reporters Tuesday that the accusations mounted to gossip among models.

Jon’s previous attorneys have insisted the designer did nothing wrong and that the accusers were models who made false allegations against Jon because he refused to employ them to the extent they wanted.

Jon is a well-known figure in the celebrity fashion world and designed clothes for Paris Hilton, singer Mary J. Blige and others. He was involved in the show “America’s Next Top Model” and was planning to star in a reality TV show for VH1 about the fashion world.
