Zack Greinke appeared to be rounding into shape Saturday, and that wasn’t even the big news from Camelback Ranch.

Carl Crawford, 32, who had remained back in Phoenix on paternity leave when the team went to Australia, became the father of a new baby boy at 3:55 a.m. Saturday.

The 8-pound boy was named after him, Carl Leo Crawford.

Meanwhile, Greinke went back on the mound in a camp game in Glendale, Ariz., and appeared to be getting past his sore calf injury.

The right-hander was pitching against the Cleveland Indians’ Class-A team, but he went five innings, allowing one run on a solo home run. He gave up three hits, did not walk a batter and struck out eight.

Greinke is next scheduled to start Thursday at Dodger Stadium in the Freeway Series opener against the Angels.
