As expected, Lakers guard Nick Young has opted out of the second year of his contract.
Young joined the Lakers last summer on a two-year, minimum contract -- with the opportunity to exit early to explore free agency in July.
Through 64 games, Young averaged 17.9 points a game while shooting 43.5% from the field and 38.6% from three-point range.
Though the 29-year old scorer will forgo $1.2 million with the Lakers to land a bigger contract, he'd happily re-sign and stay in his hometown (at the right price).
The Lakers are hoping to make big moves this off-season in free agency, but may be unwilling to give Young a large multiyear deal.
Young was paid $1.1 million for his year with the Lakers. He earned $5.6 million through the 2012-13 season with the Philadelphia 76ers.
