Kyle Quincey, claimed by the Kings after the Red Wings put him on waivers, has fit nicely into the lineup of his new team.

But his former coach, Detroit’s Mike Babcock, knew he would.

After the Red Wings’ morning skate at Staples Center in advance of their game against the Kings tonight, Babcock said he had an easy time doing the scouting report on Quincey.

‘Steady d-man, moves the puck, competes. That’s a pretty good write-up on a guy that we gave away,’ Babcock said of Quincey, who had a goal, two points and a plus-4 rating in his first four games with the Kings.

‘You want to be a Red Wing, yet you want to play. I said to Quincey before we put him on the wire, ‘Good luck.’

‘There’s nothing we could do to keep players. We had to make a decision. We knew he was pretty good. What we couldn’t decide was who we were taking out to play him, so what do you do? That was the problem and now it’s good for him. He gets a chance to play, and he’s playing well.’
