While L.A. Jordan quarterback De’ Shawn Beck provided plenty of entertainment with his juking and improvising on the run, Narbonne was conservative but effective in taking a 20-0 lead over the Bulldogs at halftime of their City Section first-round playoff game.

The Gauchos capitalized on a momentum-switching interception midway through the second quarter to take control. Quarterback Chad Dashnaw has completed seven of nine passes for 60 yards and a touchdown. Running back Melvin Davis, who made the big interception in Gauchos’ territory, has 64 yards and a touchdown in eight carries.

Beck is certainly putting on a show in front of USC Coach Pete Carroll and Washington counterpart Steve Sarkisian. He has completed seven of 15 passes for 62 yards and has carried the ball 17 times for 89 yards.

Narbonne gets the ball first to start the third quarter and Jordan needs a couple of big plays to get back in the game. The P.A. announcer reminded fans that Jordan trailed Mater Dei, 20-0, at halftime before storming back. Of course, the Bulldogs also eventually lost that game.
