Santa Monica Coach James Hect is going to have to come up with a different plan for the second half of the Division 1A championship, because nothing the Vikings did worked in the first 16 minutes.

Santa Monica relied mostly on jumpers in the first quarter and made only two of 16 shots in falling behind by 17 points. The Vikings couldn’t stop Leuzinger on the other end, where the Olympians made eight of 10 shots.

The second quarter wasn’t any better for Santa Monica. The Vikings went inside a bit more and made a couple of shots but still trail, 31-15, at halftime at the Honda Center.
