Doug Flutie’s High School Sweetheart Reveals He Has Another Engagement
Heisman Trophy-winning quarterback Doug Flutie of Boston College will be taking the plunge with his high school sweetheart, but the time of the play hasn’t been called, says Flutie’s fiancee, Laurie Fortier.
Flutie proposed to Fortier on Christmas Day and presented her with a diamond engagement ring, Fortier told the Boston herald in an interview published Monday.
“I was shaking like a leaf,” she told the newspaper from Dallas, where Flutie is preparing for today’s Cotton Bowl matchup against the University of Houston. “His father had to tell me to just calm down.
“I knew it would happen,” said Fortier, who attended Natick (Mass.) High School with Flutie. “I just didn’t know when. I was very surprised.
“There’s still a lot up in the air about what Doug’s going to be doing, and where he’s going to be.”
