Karpov, Kasparov Agree to 31st Draw

MOSCOW —
World chess champion Anatoly Karpov and challenger Garri Kasparov agreed on a draw today after 15 moves in the 37th game of their championship match.
The draw was the 31st in a championship match that has broken records for the most consecutive draws, the most draws in a title match and the longest modern match. Karpov leads the match 5-1 and needs one more victory to retain his title.
