Two firefighters were treated for minor injuries suffered at a fire in a commercial building Thursday morning, a Fire Department spokesman said.

The fire, which began about 4:30 a.m., caused about $225,000 damage to the two-story building, at 828 N. Bristol Ave., and about $25,000 damage to its contents, said Deputy Chief Bill Reedy.

The firefighters, Ron Earl and Manny Zamora, suffered “strains and sprains” when they were struck by loose stucco falling from the underside of an overhead walkway, the spokesman said. Both were treated at Western Medical Center and released.

The blaze, which was contained by 6 a.m., appeared to have started in a first-floor office belonging to Roberts Protection and Investigation, Reedy said. It then spread to adjoining offices. Arson investigators have been assigned to the case, he said.
