A 15-year-old Saugus girl who allegedly took her uncle’s car without permission led sheriff’s deputies on a high-speed chase early Wednesday before crashing into the rear of another vehicle, injuring its driver, authorities said.

Sgt. Pete Solis said the teen-ager lost most of her teeth and suffered other minor injuries in the crash. The girl was treated at County-USC Medical Center before being turned over to the county Probation Department on charges of evading arrest, reckless driving, causing an injury and driving a vehicle without permission, deputies said.

Solis said deputies spotted the car, which had been reported stolen, at Calgrove Boulevard near Interstate 5 in Newhall. When deputies turned on their car’s red lights and sirens, Solis said, the girl fled south on Old Road, which parallels the freeway, at speeds of 80 to 85 m.p.h. She slammed into the other vehicle on San Fernando Road about a half-mile north of Balboa Boulevard.

The car the teen-ager was driving, registered to Glenn Davis of Saugus, was destroyed when she rear-ended a vehicle driven by Steven Weinrib of Canyon Country, Solis said. Davis suffered minor injuries, officers said. His vehicle was moderately damaged.
