Man Shot in Newport Beach Restaurant Lot
The manager of a Newport Beach yacht brokerage was critically wounded when an assailant in a restaurant parking lot shot him several times, Newport Beach police said Saturday.
Police said Craig K. Porst, 35, of Santa Ana was shot about 4:45 Friday afternoon, after a man approached him outside Delaney’s Restaurant, in Newport Harbor. The gunman fled on foot, and was still at large Saturday.
Porst was leaving his job at Seven Seas Services, 700 Lido Park Drive, adjacent to the restaurant, when he was attacked, police said.
Paramedics treated him for multiple gunshot wounds and transferred him to Fountain Valley Community Hospital, where he was admitted in critical condition. A hospital spokeswoman said he had shown signs of improvement Saturday, and described his condition as serious.
