Brea : Plans Approved for Office Buildings at Golf Course

Share

Despite opposition from neighbors, the Planning Commission has approved plans for two office buildings at the Imperial Golf Course, with the condition that the builder erect a wall and plant trees to screen the view of residents who live within 200 feet of the project.

Some homeowners complained that traffic from the three-story office buildings would disrupt the quiet atmosphere of the neighborhood and that their properties would lose value.

“I’m concerned that I can stand in my front yard and see and hear everything going on over there,” Stephen Edstrom said Tuesday. His house, located in the Gingerwood subdivision, is in clear sight of what will be one side of an office building 185 feet away.

The commission Tuesday stipulated that the developer, Imperial Development Co. of Newport Beach, build a wall at least seven feet high, landscaped with enough mature trees to shield the office buildings from the adjacent tract.

“It will cost the developer more, but it will give some visual relief,” Planning Director Jim De Stefano said.
