Country singer Loretta Lynn will follow in the footsteps of Bing Crosby, Irving Berlin and Michael Jackson and others when she becomes the 12th Award of Merit recipient at the American Music Awards presentation Monday.
The award is given to a member of the musical community in recognition of outstanding, long-term contributions to the entertainment of the American public, awards ceremony spokesman Paul Shefrin said
Lynn’s trophy will laud “the courage and the spirit to rise from coal miner’s daughter to country music superstar,” he said.
