Two Hurt in Skid Row Hotel Fire

Two people were injured and 44 left homeless by a fire that swept through a residential hotel in Skid Row, fire officials said today. Archie Henderson, 57, suffered burns over 50% of his body in the fire that started at the Earl Roy Hotel on Fifth Street on Thursday night. He was taken to Los Angeles County-USC Medical Center and was listed in critical condition. His daughter, Linda Johnson, 41, suffered smoke inhalation. She is in stable condition.
The blaze displaced 44 residents, some of them in their 70s. The American Red Cross set up a temporary shelter to house them.
