Thomas S. Clarke, Baritone, Dies

Thomas S. Clarke, a choral baritone who for years served as a liaison for local artists and theater managers, died Sunday in a Burbank hospital of heart failure. He was 78.

An original member of the Roger Wagner Chorale who performed on radio and toured with the Guardsmen Quartet, Clarke most recently had been chairman of the Southern California executive committee of the American Guild of Musical Artists. AGMA is a labor organization representing classical singers and dancers involved in live performances.

From the 1950s through the 1970s Clarke was assistant manager and manager of the Greek and Huntington Hartford theaters, respectively, and was a longtime promotion executive for the Hollywood Bowl.

A widower, his survivors include three sons, Michael, Charles and John; three daughters, Victoria Paulsen, Sally Eskew and Lydia Clarke, and two sisters.
