A 15-year-old Mexican girl was killed, and two other pedestrians injured, when a car surged though the intersection and into a crosswalk at Hope Street and Olympic Boulevard in downtown Los Angeles. The driver, Luis Espana, 24, of Los Angeles had been drinking, police said, and he hit the three pedestrians as they stepped off the curb. His car then slammed into a lamp post. The dead girl, Maricela Ramirez, 15, had been staying with relatives here from her home in Mexico, coroner’s officials said. Police said Espana was being held for investigation of murder in the jail ward at County-USC Medical Center, where he was listed in satisfactory condition.
