World chess champion Anatoly Karpov and challenger Gary Kasparov agreed to a draw Monday in the 46th game in the world title match. Chess experts said it was another narrow escape for the world champion.

The draw was agreed upon after Karpov, playing black, made his 41st move. The chess experts said Kasparov was considered to have an advantage in the game, but Karpov played well defensively. Karpov leads the tournament, 5-1, and needs one more victory to retain his chess title. The next game is scheduled for Wednesday.
