Bomb Threat Leads to School Fire Drills

Share

Students at Norco junior and senior high schools participated in an unplanned fire drill Wednesday afternoon after school officials received threats that a bomb would go off at 1 p.m.

The threats came Tuesday in three separate telephone calls to an answering machine that services the two adjacent campuses, said Norco Fire Department Chief Richard Smentana.

School and fire officials called the drill just before 1 p.m. When nothing happened, the students returned to class.

“The kids probably still don’t know why they had the fire drill,” Smentana said.

The Riverside County Sheriff’s Department is investigating the incident.
