Fullerton Women Face Cal State Long Beach

The Cal State Fullerton women’s basketball team, off to a 5-1 start in the Western Collegiate Athletic Assn., will meet second-ranked Cal State Long Beach tonight at 7:30 in Titan Gym.

The 49ers (5-0 in conference, 17-1 overall) have won nine straight games behind the play of center Cindy Brown, who is averaging 21 points and 10 rebounds a game, forward Kirsten Cummings (16 points, 10 rebounds) and guard Jackie White (15 points). Long Beach, which leads the nation in scoring (90.9 points per game), has only lost to Old Dominion.

Second-place Fullerton (14-5 overall) relies on forward Meg Gallagher, who leads the team in scoring (17 points per game) and assists (86) and is second in rebounding (6 a game). Center Terri Withers and guard Robin Holmes each have been averaging 11 points a game.
