Grant 61, Taft 49

Taft High took a 10-7 lead at the end of the first quarter behind the scoring of 6-1 center Alice Morton, but Grant came back on the strength of its own center, Lenise Collins.

Morton scored 24 points, including 6 in the first quarter, and had 14 rebounds. Collins, who is 5-9, countered with 22 points, 14 in the second half, and a game-high 24 rebounds.

Cindy Okano had 16 points and 9 assists, and Shandrea Howard had 16 rebounds for Grant.

The Lancers improved to 2-8 in the Valley 4-A League and 6-8 overall. Taft fell to 0-10 in league.

Van Nuys 86, Verdugo Hills 36

Van Nuys High outscored Verdugo Hills in each period en route to an easy win at Verdugo Hills.

Brigitt Montes scored 22 points and had 14 rebounds to lead Van Nuys, while Charnessa Holmes added 16 points, Shawn Price had 13 and Bernadette Tillis had 12. Price also had 14 rebounds and Tillis had 8 assists.

Van Nuys finished the Valley 3-A season at 9-1, good enough for a first-place tie with Reseda. The Wolves are 11-3 overall.

Verdugo Hills is 0-10 in league and 0-14 this season.

Pasadena 65, Hoover 44

Michelle Brown’s 26 points helped push Pasadena High past Hoover in a Pacific League contest at Pasadena.

Silvia Antanaitis scored 21 points for Hoover, while Rachonne Jones scored 11 points for Pasadena.

Pasadena is 5-3 in league and 13-8 overall. Hoover fell to 4-4 and 11-7.

Reseda 69, Granada Hills 35

Four Reseda High players scored in double figures at Granada Hills to improve the Regents’ Valley 3-A League record to 9-1.

Reseda finished in a first-place tie with Van Nuys.

Nicky Adams and Desiree Mims each scored 18 points, Valerie Williams had 14 and Thresser Walthall had 11 for Reseda. Mims added 15 rebounds, while Walthall had 11 rebounds and 8 assists.

Christy Barber scored 14 points for Granada Hills, which fell to 3-7 in league. Reseda improved its overall record to 13-2.

Glendale 48, Crescenta Valley 43

Glendale High stormed to an 18-2 first-quarter lead and, despite being outscored in each of the final three periods, held on to defeat Crescenta Valley.

Martha Rankin scored 19 points and had 23 rebounds to lead Glendale. Susan Siam added 9 points, 6 steals and 6 assists.

Molly Wampler scored 23 points for Crescenta Valley, which fell to 1-7 in the Pacific League and 6-10 overall. Glendale is 6-2 in league and 12-9 this season.

Calabasas 61, Agoura 29

Sophomore Sandi Thomsen, a 5-10 center, scored 15 points and had 12 rebounds to help Calabasas High to a one-sided win over Agoura at Calabasas.

Janet Selidman scored 14 points and Dana Astrachan added 12 for Calabasas, which improved to 5-1 in the Frontier League. The Coyotes are 11-7 overall.

Dawn Krenik led Agoura with 8 points. The Chargers are 0-6 in league.

Viewpoint 44, Pilgrim 39

Viewpoint High improved its Heritage League record to 8-0 with a home victory over Pilgrim.

Christa Leadbetter had 15 rebounds and Roxana Rafik and Lisa Howard each scored 10 points to lead Viewpoint.

Merla Dellota had 11 points for Pilgrim, which fell to 8-2 in league and 12-2 overall. Viewpoint is 11-4 this season.

Monroe 60, San Fernando 28

Monroe High outscored San Fernando, 17-6, in each of the first two quarters to win easily at home.

Senior center Linda Oda scored 20 points to lead Monroe. The Vikings improved their Valley 3-A League record to 6-4.

Kennedy 70, Chatsworth 38

Kennedy High won its 70th straight league game over visiting Chatsworth High. The Golden Cougars completed the Valley 4-A League season 10-0 and are 18-4 overall.

Stacy Parson scored 24 points, Diane DeCree had 21 points and Debbie Jones added 10 for Kennedy.

El Camino Real 57, Cleveland 35

The Conquistadores romped at El Camino Real to finish the regular season with a 14-3 record.

El Camino Real got 19 points and 13 rebounds from Michelle Kirby, 18 points and nine rebounds from Voviette Morgan and 12 points and seven rebounds from Beth Gratzer.
