Brother of Injured Athlete Will Also Play for Colorado

DENVER — Ed Reinhardt Jr.’s younger brother has committed to play football for the University of Colorado.
“He seemed pretty happy,” Tom Reinhardt said of Ed’s reaction to the news that he will follow in his older brother’s footsteps despite the tragic end to Ed’s playing days.
Ed, a promising tight end, suffered severe brain damage in a Colorado game in Oregon Sept. 15, and is continuing a painstaking rehabilitation program to regain his speech and motor movements.
Tom, a linebacker for Heritage High School in Littleton, said the situation with his brother did not influence his decision to play for the Buffaloes.
“I was looking for what was best overall for me. It was my own decision. My parents said wherever I go, they’d be behind me,” he said.
